A third of Brits lie to partners about finance

Almost a third of all Brits have lied to their partners about their financial situation, according to a new survey.

Figures from Cater Allen Private Bank discovered that some 30 per cent of people were not open with their partners and 44 per cent have specifically lied about the cost of a purchase they have made, reports PA.
Richard Dunn, Cater Allen managing director, said: "While it has traditionally been considered bad manners to talk about money, this research shows that modern Britons are not comfortable with being upfront about their financial affairs too."
Some three per cent of respondents admitted to taking out a loan without telling their partner while nine per cent said they also had a secret credit card for sneaky purchases.
Rather predictably men chose to splash their secret cash on gadgets to busy themselves. In fact 20 per cent of men admitted they would secretly buy the latest gadget compared to only eight per cent of women.
