... Brits getting more spontaneous Brits getting more spontaneous

7 September 2007

Britons are at their most spontaneous, according to a new survey.

An impressive nine out of ten act spontaneously at least once a month, the research by Vauxhall revealed
.

Impulsive acts include small decisions like getting a hair cut, to more important choices like buying car or house, or getting a tattoo.

And there is a clear relationship between happiness and spontaneity.

A huge 91 per cent of respondents said they felt happier after doing something spontaneous.

And people are prepared to make substantial changes in their lives at the drop of a hat. 28 per cent said they would move to another country straight away if given the chance, while others would leave their relationships.

Bring in love was cited by 80 per cent of respondents as the justification for their off-the-cuff action.

Some 45 per cent would ask a stranger out on a date and seven per cent would propose marriage spontaneously.

Shelley Perkins, from Vauxhall Corsa, said: "Us Brits can always be counted on to grab life by the horns - we're happy to take a chance on our journey through life and know how to enjoy the ride.

"It's clear that we are at our happiest when having some spur-of-the-moment fun."ADNFCR-1016-ID-18272570-ADNFCR
