... Brits having workplace affairs Brits having workplace affairs

20 February 2008

Britons are spending increasingly long hours at work and socialising even more with their colleagues and this has led to a significant number of workplace crushes, according to a new survey.

Around 54 per cent of workers polled by Reed said they have a secret crush on someone they work with.

One in three respondents said they have acted on their feelings by sending suggestive emails or texts to the object of their affections even though they were in a relationship with someone else.

The survey also revealed that 38 per cent have succeeded in dating someone from the office, but 70 per cent of these said they had kept their affair secret.

Lewis Woodward, head of network marketing at Reed, said: "It is surprising that people seem so totally unphased by office romances taking place around them, even though they are reluctant to own up to their own office flings."

Around 45 per cent of respondents said work is the best place to meet the One, with seven per cent admitting they ended up marrying a work colleague.

Office relationships can often be difficult, however, with some couples feeling the strain of spending every waking moment with their other half.
