... Brits losing the passion factor Brits losing the passion factor

8 December 2007

Pleasure can be short lived. And a new survey has proved just that, as one in five couples in the UK has no sex at all in an average month.

Some 42 per cent of couples spent no longer than 20 minutes on sex in a session, while the majority of couples do not have sex more than six times a month.

But many want more sex. They just don't know how to get it, the poll by the Filthy Food Company revealed.

They are advised to turn on their sensual attitudes with longer love-making sessions and put pressures on hold to give yourselves enough time for the finer things in life.

Explaining the decline in sex frequency once a relationship has been going for a while, Donna Dawson, a psychologist, said: "When we repeatedly encounter the same pleasure-producing stimulus, we experience increasingly less pleasure in response.

"The only way around the 'habituation effect' is to spread out the pleasure-taking over a period of time. This will maximise the satisfaction, whereas cramming in our pleasures in short bursts doesn't."ADNFCR-1043-ID-18384394-ADNFCR
