Cole's case highlights infidelity boom

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is just the latest victim of a depressingly common scenario.

Cole, nee Tweedy, recently said she wanted to start a family with husband Ashley, who plays for Chelsea.
The footballer is alleged to have cheated on Cheryl twice following nights out with his team-mates and his wife understandably wants a break to consider her options.
Meanwhile, counsellors have confirmed the depressing findings of a survey published last week that revealed eight out of ten British couples will be unfaithful to each other.
And it's not just the gents who are getting itchy feet after making those all-important vows.
The study also found that 59 per cent of wives would leave their husbands if they could afford to do so.
Cathy Breslin, a counsellor, hypnotherapist and life coach from county Kildare, told the Irish Independent: "An affair is almost a given.
"It is, almost, more unusual now for a marriage to stay together. When you had to go to England to divorce it was almost unheard of; now when people hear about an affair, it is, 'oh, you too'," she added.
Gerry Hickey, counsellor and psychotherapist, told the newspaper that while infidelity is the most common reason for separation, divorcing couples also frequently cite psychological and physical abuse and addictions.
The growth of websites for those seeking no-strings-attached relationships is only adding to the problem.
However, those hoping to live the dream with their new partner should think again. A recent London university survey found that just three per cent end of husbands who left their wives married their mistresses. And those that did had a 75 to 90 per cent chance of returning to the divorce courts.
