... Couples join forces in the workplace Couples join forces in the workplace

An increasing number of British couples are also forming business partnerships, according to a new study.

Who says men and women can't live and work together? The new research conducted on behalf of Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank shows that 38 per cent of small business bosses manage their companies with their lovers.

The research showed that although the number of couples choosing to tie the knot has dropped more people are getting into a commitment of a different kind by forming a business partnership.

Figures show that the most popular roles for the partner to take on are in management, sales, operations, finance and general administration.

Steve Jennings, director of business banking at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, said: "Our research shows that many couples are committed to making their businesses a success.

"As well as working closely with their partner and making important joint financial decisions which will affect the future financial health of their business, they are both able to achieve a sense of accomplishment and reap the rewards of a sound business partnership."
