... Make Valentine's a healthy affair Make Valentine's a healthy affair

12 February 2008

Well-being experts are recommending that people turn the champagne and chocolate laden tradition of Valentine's into a healthier affair that can be enjoyed just as much, with the chance of romance more likely.

Sue Allchurch, from the Linwood Group, one of the UK's leading alcohol treatment organisations, said: "Creating the right mood with candles and music, serving a meal rich in aphrodisiac foods are more likely to result in a more pleasurable evening - and the next morning you'll wake up without a hangover and feel ready to repeat the whole experience."

As little as one glass of champagne or a pint of beer could hinder sexual performance and include loss of sensation during love-making.

"We're suggesting people try alternatives to alcohol to get into the mood this year," she said.

Valentine's Day could be the perfect night indeed to give up on the wine and spirits and create a romantic atmosphere at home or at a quiet restaurant to rekindle that magnetic chemistry.
