Man rises to challenge to win love's hand
2 October 2007
When Jonathan Horwath decided that he wanted to marry girlfriend Katherine Corner, her family set him a challenge - to run the Great North Run.
|
The Corners said Jonathan would not be part of the family until he had completed the world's biggest half-marathon, reports the Sunderland Echo.
He agreed and the wedding was arranged for just 48 hours after he completed the mammoth task.
Jonathan said: "The Great North Run is an incredible event and is something we plan our year around. We wanted to get married in the North East so we decided to combine the two."
And as a show of support for her groom-to-be, his fiancee Katherine, who grew up in America, decided to run with him.
She said: "We've only got one day of rest before we walk down the aisle, but I'm sure we will have recovered by then."
The ceremony is to take place at Langley Castle.
