Men 'identify with Eastenders' Ian Beale'

When it comes to star spending behaviour, most men see themselves as Ian Beale rather than David Beckham, according to a new poll.

Scottish Widows asked men who they felt their spending habits most reflected and a fifth said the unfortunate entrepreneur Ian from Eastenders.
They described themselves as "careful" or "tight" with their money, while over a third said they were "diligent" or "thrifty" with their money.
Men and women were asked by Scottish Widows which fictional soap character or celebrity their spending habits were most like.
Most women felt they were just like Honey Mitchell and financially disorganised and "always short of money".
Six per cent of respondents said they had lavish spending habits like those of Sex & the City's Carrie Bradshaw or David Beckham.
Commenting, Mike Hoban, customer and brand marketing director of Scottish Widows, said: "It's great that so many men see themselves as financially responsible, but they have to make sure that what they are doing with any savings pays off in the long term.
"There's no point in saving money now if they end up simply splashing it all at once in a few years time. Putting a little aside each month and planning carefully for the future will stop them running into a financial crisis in later years."
