... Men lose weight to find love Men lose weight to find love

10 January 2008

A new survey has revealed that it is not just women who feel the pressure to be thin.

A survey by Tesco found that one in five British men are on some form of diet with one in ten spending between thirty minutes and an hour thinking about their weight on a daily basis.

There was a distinct divide between men and women in terms of their motivation for beating the bulge.

While women aspired to look better, feel fitter and boost their self-esteem, men were more focused on improving their love prospects.

Some 13 per cent believed being slimmer would improve their chances of getting a date and almost ten per cent thought it would make them better in bed.

Others, meanwhile, were emulating a celebrity they considered desirable, a popular reason with many women.

Men aged 25 to 34 were the most body-conscious, the survey found.
