Sarkozy 'marries' girlfriend

French president Nicolas Sarkozy has married his girlfriend Carla Bruni after a whirlwind romance of just two months, it has been reported.

According to the French newspaper, L'Est Republican, the 52-year old tied the knot with the 39-year old former Italian supermodel at "small, very private" venue in the Elysee palace last Thursday.
While the pair may have married in secret, their romance, which has included trips to Disneyland Paris and an official visit to Egypt, has been played out in front of the world's media.
Ms Bruni has previously dated some of the world's most glamorous men, including Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and even Donald Trump.
Rumours have also emerged that the happy couple have booked a hotel room in the Italian city of Verona, prompting speculation that the president may take time away from his official duties in order to enjoy his honeymoon in the city famous for being the home of Romeo and Juliet.
