The effect of marriage on sex drive

Getting married reduces a man's testosterone levels, a new study has found.
This provides an explanation as to why many couples experience a decline in their sex drive after they get married

Rather than linking testosterone to age, as previous research has indicated, it was found that securing a life partner resulted in a reduction in the chemical which controls men's libido.
Scientists have claimed that the chemical is produced less following marriage, since the man no longer has to search out a partner.
The connection was made following a tribe in Kenya where the men do not marry until the age of 30 when they take several wives
It was found that upon marriage, their testosterone took a significant knock.
Peter Gray, a researcher on the study, is quoted by New Scientist as saying: "Testosterone levels are lower among married men probably because they are investing less time in mating effort."
