... What we really want in a partner What we really want in a partner

7 November 2007

While men and women often assume that people will not find them attractive unless they live up to the stereotype of an ideal man or woman, a new survey has shown that this may not be the case.

Researchers from George Mason University in the US looked at the top five traits that both sexes look for in a partner.

And it was found that both men and women look for the same qualities in a partner, reports Broadside Online.

Self-confidence, appearance, humour, conversational ability, and maturity ere cited as the most important features in a partner.

Carla Valdes, a respondent in the survey, said: "Confidence is great. If a guy is confident, I wonder why and usually want to know more about him."

The ability to hold a conversation and to start one up was also pointed to as an attractive quality.

John Mauler said: "A woman who can hold a conversation that is not just shallow banter between two people is attractive."

And of course, shallow as it sounds, looks play a role. And it cannot be denied, since this physical attraction is an essential element to relationships that work.ADNFCR-1043-ID-18347016-ADNFCR
