... Widow finds love again in dance partner Widow finds love again in dance partner

12 November 2008

A Welsh widow thought she would never find love again, but was pleasantly surprised when dance classes led her up the aisle.

Mandy Lian, 43, had been married to her husband Simon Williams for 16 years before he died of a blocked artery in May 2002.

Devastated, the supply teacher shut out the world and became an independent woman for four years and was scared to re-enter the dating scene.

But when she took up ballroom dance classes, she immediately hit it off with her dance partner Sheng Lian, 31.

She told the South Wales Argus: "We became friends right from the word go. I didn't think I would find someone again. It felt comfortable, we clicked straight away."

Shows such as Strictly Come Dancing have encouraged Britons to get off the couch and take up ballroom.

And the couple's love story shows it could be a great way of meeting new people and finding love.

Mrs Lian, who has four children, said: "When you're dancing, you work together so much especially through ballroom. You work through the problems together, there's more understanding."

The couple were married in February 2007 – within 12 months of meeting each other.
