Couple prepare to become UK's oldest newlyweds
15 November 2007
Following a romantic love affair, a couple are making plans to become the UK's oldest newlyweds.
|
James Mason is 93 and has recently proposed to his girlfriend Peggy Clark, aged 84.
He claims that he was hit by "a bolt from the blue" and proposed to Peggy only three days after meeting her. Both say it was love at first sight.
Mr Mason told the BBC: "The moment I saw his lovely twinkling eyes, I knew he was the one - those eyes told me everything.
"When I looked across the table at her it was absolutely love at first sight and I knew that was it."
The bride-to-be is so pleased at her good fortune to find the man of her dreams that she keeps asking her fiance to pinch her so she knows it is real.
The pair are marrying at Paignton's Oldway mansion but are keeping their honeymoon plans a secret.
