Keeping your partner faithful
5 December 2007
While few of us enter into relationships believing our partner will be unfaithful, once the first flushes of romance have passed and the relationship has developed into a routine, it becomes more of a risk that your partner's eye may begin to wander.
|
But according to David Zinczenko, editor of Men's Health magazine, there are things you can do to keep your partner's gaze firmly fixed on you.
The first recommendation he makes is to plan for the future and have exciting events to look forward to. This will prevent either of you seeking excitement in the arms of another.
Next up is having date nights. Whether you stay in and play a board game, go out to watch a movie, cook a meal together or go ice skating, make sure you spice up your routine and don't get into ruts.
Research by the University of Washington in face indicates that 70 per cent of men believe having a friendship with their wives puts them off the idea of cheating.
Another tip, which can be more difficult for some couples, is to give each other your blessing when they go out with their friends, for example on a stag or hen weekend.
Showing you respect and trust each other will mean both are more inclined to stay faithful and won't feel they will be retuning to a nag.
And don't forget to give your partner a boost. Whether it's that they look good or that you appreciate them, it will keep them coming back for more.
