Men 'pants' when it comes to their smalls
12 June 2008
When it comes to their underwear, British men are all about recycling, according to new research.
|
A survey commissioned by Lakeside shopping centre in Essex as part of Men's Health Week found that a third of men wear the same pants as they did the day before – with many just turning them inside out.
It seems men just do not have enough smalls, with the average male owning 14 pairs of pants – and they only replace these when they are quite literally worn out and hole-ridden, the survey found.
Nearly half of the so-called 'new men' relied on the women in their lives to buy their underwear for them.
Interestingly, around 41 per cent of the men surveyed said their Y-fronts were their favourite pieces.
Personal shopper Angela Poplett said: "We have seen the rise of the new man and metrosexuals spending record amounts on clothes and grooming, but the underwear drawer remains a somewhat neglected corner of the male wardrobe.
"Not even David Beckham advertising upmarket underwear can change the attitude of British men towards their pants - they remain completely undie-whelmed!"
