... More women 'suspect husbands of cheating' More women 'suspect husbands of cheating'

26 February 2008

An increasing number of women are hiring private investigators because they suspect their husband is having an affair, according to a new report.

The survey of divorce lawyers by Grant Thornton revealed that more than two thirds had clients who enlisted the services of private investors to check out whether their other half was playing away from home.

Figures reveal that cheating is now the biggest cause for a divorce, with women most likely to suspect their man of cheating.

Andrea McLaren, head of matrimonial practice at Grant Thornton, said: "Marriages are meant to be built on trust, yet this figure shows this is not always the case.

"While it might seem an extreme length to go to use a private investigator, people just want to know the truth, even if it hurts."
