Partners not spending enough on each other
4 October 2007
People are not spending enough on the one they love and could risk losing them if they don't step up their game, according to a new survey by Abbey.
The research revealed that 5.9 million people in the UK do not think their partner spends enough on them

.
And a whopping 792,000 people have split with a partner because they didn't feel they were treated enough.
The average spend for a partner's birthday is £95, while Christmas spending is around £130. Other gifts during the years add up to an average of £97.
But it is activities that leave the biggest dent on the wallet, or purse, totalling £1,040 a year for eating out and going for drinks, and £224 on dating activities such as the cinema.
Steve Shore, head of banking at Abbey, said: "Love doesn't come cheap. It costs over £1,500 a year to be in a relationship and love keeps on getting more expensive as you get older."
