South Korean cougars are 'on the rise'
3 April 2008
Sex and the City has not just made toyboys popular in the US and the UK - they are becoming increasingly accepted in other parts of the world too.
|
For instance, it is becoming increasingly common for South Korean women to bag themselves a toy boy, the Earth Times has reported.
The situation of a younger man and older woman was once viewed as scandalous, but attitudes are changing.
As women are more independent, look younger and have more financial stability in their own right they are seeking younger partners all over the world.
In South Korea, ten per cent of married couples who are in their 20s and 30s comprise of a female who is older than her male partner.
According to 29 year-old Kim Kyung-Hye, who is currently dating a 26-year-old man, one of the benefits of having a toyboy is that they are more thoughtful.
"I am feeling more heard with my younger boyfriend. He is so caring for me that he even remembers my mother's birthday," she commented.
Fewer couples are getting married, preferring to live together instead, according to the Scotsman.
