Why spending time together is important
11 September 2007
Jeff Herring, a relationship expert, told McClatchy Newspapers why it is important couples makes time for each other and work around the pressures of family and work life.
|
He claims there are a host of benefits that couples will reap from taking quality time out together.
The relationship is likely to last longer as it will make you closer and prevent you growing apart.
You will also be happier as you will be able to understand one another more easily.
And it is a great example to children, who can learn how adult relationships work and how to keep relationships strong.
While many couples recognise the benefits, it is not through want of trying that they don't get time together.
Herring recommends scheduling time together and sticking to it.
It is important to make sure these couple times are regular, rather than for one full week in a year, for example.
Ideally, finding a bit of time each day to chat would be best, and going on a date every week or month should help to keep the magic alive.
This gives you regular time to count on and the chance to have some fun as a couple.
