World's fastest divorce
21 November 2007
A couple from Israel have divorced after only four days of marriage.
|
The newlyweds went to the Rabbinical court in Jerusalem in their first week of married life and the problem was the in-laws.
The wife was refusing to live in the house of her new mother and father-in-law, saying that she had been promise a new apartment by her husband, reports the Times of India.
Finances were another bone of contention, as the wife, not so willing to share all her worldly goods, claimed she was entitled to a larger share of the wedding gifts since her husband's family had given cheap presents.
The rabbis could not convince them to give married life a shot and granted the disgruntled wife a divorce.
How the wedding presents were divided is unclear.
And this couple, although record-breaking, are not alone with five per cent of marriages in Israel not making it past the first year of wedded bliss.
