Is the tune that has been running through my mind as I have been putting this profile together. I much prefer Champagne, I have to say, and 'getting caught in the rain' is not really the best fun these days. And that second phrase also brings to mind the Barry White song, so that both of these references underscore my age - my pop music taste and memories are sunk irredeemably in the 1970's! But what they really speak about, I hope, is my still youthful hope of finding true romance with someone who can share in my life as much as I can share in his?
I have been on my own now for just over three years, and am beginning to enjoy being master of my own days - as much as anyone can who also enjoys a lovely and lively relationship with her family and a wide circle of friends. Nevertheless, I know I have a lot more love to give the right person, whom I very much hope is still out there waiting for me. So although I have never liked multiple choice questionnaires - they lack a certain finesses / subtlety - I have screwed up my courage, laid down some very basic ideas I have about myself and hope that they may prove of interest to someone?
If you would like to investigate and soften out these basic facts, then I would be delighted to open a conversation with you or meet you for a champagne cocktail somewhere. And if not, then I wish you all success in your search.

Occupation:
Over the years I have served in the Army, worked in Business Administration and been a Civil Servant working for the MoD. Now am a business owner - offering very bespoke remembrance tours to northern France and Belgium - otherwise known as a battlefield guide!
Education:
I completed my degree (BA Hons in Modern History) as a mature student, whilst my own children were completing their GCSE/A Levels!
Heritage:
Born and brought up in Scotland, although I have now lived in England far longer, my father was a Clergyman who took his family to live / work in Papua New Guinea. I went to 13 schools as a result so I have no problem meeting new people but don't ask me to decline a French verb.
Religion:
I am a committed member of my local Parish Church where I sing in the Choir and am a Governor at the associated Primary School. I would love to meet someone who shares - or at least understands - my commitment but I am by no means a 'bible-basher'!
Politics:
I would describe myself as a liberal democrat but not a Liberal Democrat?
Appearance:
Oh yes ; I am a tall leggy blonde, NOT! Far more important than my appearance is the fact that I consider myself to be happy and fun loving, I enjoy meeting new people and have a wide circle of friends.
Languages Spoken:
Oops, I only speak English!
Musical Instruments played:
Piano, Once I left home I no longer had access to a piano - in the average Officers Mess the baby grand had not been tuned in an age and the CO's wife thought it was hers for her main flower arrangement. Rather I fell back upon my voice and have sung with choirs all over the place.
Music Enjoyed:
Choral, Classical, Jazz, Opera, Pop, Soft Rock, Swing, 60s music, 70s music, 80s music, Choral, Classical, Opera, Pop, Soft Rock, Swing, 60s music, 70s music
Sports and exercise:
Swimming, Swimming is the only 'thing' I do from this list although I do play a very little golf - very badly - and I have had a few horse riding lessons. I think it is safe to say that I am not a sportswoman?
Interests and activities:
Concerts, Eating Out, Friends, History, Reading, Theatre, Writing
Animals and Pets:
I have none and am not partial to any.
Newspapers and magazines:
Daily Mail, Telegraph, The Times, all of which goes to explain my politics, I have no doubt.
Books:
Agatha Christie, Dan Brown, Dick Francis, Maeve Binchy, Philip Pullman, Robert Ludlum, Ruth Rendell, When I am on holiday I like to read 'lighter' books - my holiday only really begins once my bags have been taken and I have spent some time wandering around the airport bookshop. Regarding my own subject, the Great War, there is not enough time left to me to read all the books on the subject!
Favourite Films:
Carry on Nurse, Casablanca, From Russia with Love, Gone with the Wind, Kind Hearts and Coronets, Love Story, Maltese Falcon, Some Like It Hot, I have seen all of the films I have clicked upon but again, my taste is too broad for the few I chosen here. I love to laugh, cry and try to work out who is the real baddie all in the same film!
Enjoyable evening out:
Art Gallery, Cinema, Meal, Pub, Wine bar, Musical, Theatre
Favourite Dishes:
Lemongrass and ginger marinated chicken, Mediterranean vegetables and Ricotta wrapped in Filo, Smoked Salmon, Tomato + Mozarella salad, Veal Escalope, That old joke " I am on a sea food diet ; I see it and eat it" comes to mind. Probably the best way to describe my preferences is to say what I don't like? Now, let's see....................?
Ideal Holiday:
Driving across the US, Driving slowly around Ireland, Safari in Africa. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to spend 6 weeks in Australia, and clocked up just under 2,000 miles driving around Victoria. As I result I am planning to return to Australia in 2019 - yes, for my 60th birthday year - and spending 16 months driving around the entire continent. Would you like to come with me?
In another life:
Me again!, a dolphin, an author, a travel writer. My reaction to the list above is that it is very selective ; true, I would love to be able to sing like Edith Piaf but she had an awful life which makes mine, by comparison, look what is has been ; great. So I can only really say that I would come back as me but just do/experience a whole host of other things second time around.
Personality:
Affectionate, Adventurous, Ambitious, Aware, Caring, Cheerful, Confident, Courageous, Considerate, Creative, Extrovert, Friendly, Generous, Independent, Loving, Modest, Optimistic, Positive, Practical, Proactive, Reliable, Romantic, Sociable, Thoughtful, Tolerant, Wow, don't I sound amazing? Reads appallingly doesn't it? What I would prefer to say is that I try to show these traits generally
