Women 'diet for a decade'
27 May 2008
Women spend a decade of their lives on a diet, according to the results of a new survey.
|
So concerned are they with the need to stay slim and emulate the svelte figures of women they see in glossy magazines that UK females are constantly watching their weight.
On average, women go on two diets a year – of around five weeks each. So from their 18th birthday to their 70th, they go on around 104 diets, the Daily Mail reports.
The study was conducted by LIPObind – a company which makes natural weight loss products.
Dr Glenn Wilson of the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College, London, told the newspaper: “This highlights just how much women think about their weight and the pressure associated with keeping in shape.”
He added: "Women's weight is bound to fluctuate due to life changing events such as having a baby, emotional factors associated with relationships and changes in their working environment.
"These changes and yo-yo dieting seems often to go hand in hand.
